Hammers Win First for the David's: West Ham 2 Birmingham 0

A great victory for the Irons. As the chorus of "Bubbles" was in the air of Boelyn Ground. West Ham United wins their first match for the new owners David Gold and David Sullivan.

Today at Upton Park the Hammers took care of business against Birmingham City. A sweet revenge for the new owners seeing as Birmingham was the duo's former club. With a timely goal from Alessandro Diamanti just before halftime, and the demoralizing second half header by Carlton Cole, the Irons get a well deserved full three points.

Coley was elated to get his first goal since coming back off of his knee injury. Saying after the match "I am just so happy I got on the scoresheet." and "It was a massive win for us." courtesy of www.whufc.com. Cole now has this goal under his belt to move on with confidence and notch as many more as he can for the rest of the season.

This victory was the best match West Ham has played since the two to nil victory over Portsmouth at Upton Park in December. Against bottom-feeder Portsmouth it was expected, but not when playing the very strong side of Birmingham City.

With this "massive" victory the Hammers are in 14th place on the League Table. with their minus eight goal differential being a key factor in their desperate fight to stave of relegation from the Premier League.

West Ham goes on to face Hull City in two weekends. The Tigers are playing well of late and the Hammers will be fighting for another home victory to get some comforting cushion from the bottom three.
